Adia — Woven Disc Raffia Earrings
Adia — a Swahili name meaning "gift".
A broad flat disc, plaited in a single spiral from the centre outward and left wide rather than domed. The plait is deliberately open, so the fibre reads as texture from across a room. These hand-woven raffia disc earrings hang from stainless steel ear wires and weigh almost nothing for their span.
Materials: Natural raffia, undyed or hand-dyed, stainless steel ear wires
Design: A broad flat plaited disc, coiled by hand from the centre
Origin: Handcrafted in Nigeria
Editions
- Natural — undyed raffia, the fibre exactly as it dries
- Raspberry Pink — fuchsia graded down into deep purple
Care
Keep dry. Raffia is a plant fibre — water, perfume and hairspray will dull the colour. Store flat or hanging, not crushed at the bottom of a bag. If a piece flattens, press it gently back into shape with your fingers; the fibre has memory.
Plaited by hand, so no two spirals close at the same point.

Adire is hand-dyed cotton. It softens with wear and may relax slightly after the first washes.
Care
Hand-wash cold with mild soap. No tumble-dry. Iron inside-out on medium heat. Expect slight dye release during the first washes, a natural characteristic of hand-dyed textiles that stabilizes with use.
